In order to give the subject some solid context, I believe it would be useful to start a theme by first discussing its utility. Then I would run through some simple cases. I need to emphasise that there are no dumb questions, anything to aid a student's understanding is essential. After I've run through a few examples, I wish to have the student run through their own instance, speaking with me pretending they were the tutor and I was the student.
Many studies have shown that attempting to describe an idea you have a little while ago found out assists exceptionally in retention as well as comprehension. If I'm satisfied with their teaching, I would love to check their critical thinking by setting an issue based upon everything learned in the lesson, but with subtle changes that need the tutee to actively engage with the work, rather than be on "autopilot".
Homework will certainly be established on the material discussed (nothing too extreme), and even more lessons will be spent addressing exam-styled enquiries before going on to the next topic.
Throughout lessons I 'd like to urge a fairly informal, friendly atmosphere. I enjoy teaching, as well as I hope students enjoy my training sessions, and a relaxed mind is far better at learning.
